A BIT ABOUT ME

I live on beautiful Vancouver Island with my husband Aaron. Together we have two amazing daughters who make rediscovering the world so much fun.

I am a nerd to the core and proud of it. Reading and learning are my favourite ways to spend my free time. I strongly believe in the benefits of possessing a growth mindset. To help foster that mindset, I take every opportunity I can to learn new skills. I am usually drawn to courses on adult learning and instructional design, but I have also recently taken an interest in computer programming, especially front end design.

In mid-2015 I took on the challenge of Youth Chapter Lead for Canada Learning Code in Victoria. We are non-profit aimed at becoming a leading resource for women and youth to become passionate builders - not just consumers - of technology by learning technical skills in a hands-on, social, and collaborative way. Since taking on the youth lead of Canada Learning Code in Victoria, the team has brought digital literacy and coding skills to over 500 local girls.

I am privileged to also be on the Board of Directors for VIATEC, the hub of Victoria’s vibrant tech community.
