Change Management Framework

Organizational change is usually introduced as a data-driven decision that is then enacted by the implementation of a project. Project management strategies are then employed in order to create an actionable plan going forward. What must also be employed in concert with the Project Management Plan is a Change Management Plan (CMP). A CMP creates and manages the environment surrounding the organizational change. Change management supports, and enables project management processes. The University of Central Florida (n.d.) has labelled this process as “institutional capacity and readiness” (para. 1), and provides “indicators to assess readiness to engage in an institutional blended learning initiative” (para. 2) which include well-understood definitions and strategies that “align with institutional goals”” (para. 2). Weiner (2009) describes change management as “a shared psychological state in which organizational members feel committed to implementing an organizational change and confident in their collective abilities to do so” (Weiner, 2009, p.1).
